2011 Yamaha MT-01 – $16,000

SELLER SAYS: This has to be one of the very last MT-01s delivered and probably the only 2011 MT-01 currently available because I’ve only ever seen one other. The bike is in superb condition with very low km. Probably as close to new as is possible with 19,643km covered. MT-01s have six-piston front brake calipers from 2007. The long stroke engine is an easy starter at all times and hasn’t missed a beat in my time with the bike. Easy maintenance with hydraulic lifters and EFI. Its always a hoot to ride with arm stretching torque (150Nm at 3750rpm), sounds great, looks great has tons of character and makes great sound. Runs and rides perfectly, has its toolkit, keys, manual, service record and recent fresh Castrol full synthetic 4T 5W-40 oil and filter. I own two MT-01s and need to rationalise a bit so I’m selling the nicest one. WA registration to January 2023. Contact Trevor on 0419 955 022 or by email at trevor@antec.net.au (Midvale, Perth WA).

EDITOR TERLICK SAYS: When first released in 2005, Yamaha’s ballsy MT-01 hit the market as a Muscle bike with a capital M. Boasting top-quality suspension, brakes straight off the R1 sports bike and — much more importantly —  a hulking great 1670cc V-twin engine delivering 150 Newtons of torque at just 3750rpm, it was a short-shift thriller. It was also hellishly expensive — a fact that can be held largely responsible for sales figures much lower than Yamaha had hoped for and, therefore, rarity in the second-hand market today. This bike of Trevor’s looks like a near-perfect example, with extra-low mileage and clean-as-a-whistle presentation. If you’ve always liked the idea of a Harley V-Rod or Ducati Diavel, but prefer made-in-Japan thanks all the same, we reckon you’d fall in love with this. Cool as.
