EDITOR’S COMMENT: Every Hayabusa is special, thanks to its glorious spot in history as the world’s first mass-produced 300+kmh motorcycle, and therefore being the catalyst for an international hissy-fit over superbikes being too dang super for their own good. That hissy-fit was more than 20 years ago and it cemented the ‘Busa as a collectible machine and as a celebration of modern motorcycle technology. This bike of John’s is more special than most, being a limited edition in gleaming white and, clearly, in magnificent fettle. The Hayabusa has long been one of our favourite bikes, thanks to its rare combination of being historically significant AND completely functional — unlike many “collectibles” that are at their best parked in a man cave, the ‘Busa can be a highway bike, a track bike, a weekend blaster, and even a daily commuter.
